If it has ink, we print itMarketing Team on 10/03/2011
Color printing at Art Advertising is one of the fastest growing areas of our business, and with a color printing specialist like Mark Meyer, it is growing more every day. Mark has over twenty years of experience in full color offset color printing and makes sure our clients get their printed projects on time, within budget and always with the highest quality. Living in a digital world, we often think everything can be mass produced with a click of a button and in the speed of lightening. That is true in some cases, but not all. For our clients who need larger quantities of a printed piece or something with special varnishes or inks such as metallics, offset printing is either necessary or more cost effective than it's digital counter-part. Offset color printing is also called “traditional” or “commercial printing”. It encompasses standard paper items such as letterhead, envelopes, business cards, forms and brochures. The press will literally “offset” the ink from a plate to a "blanket" or roller then onto the paper. The main advantage of offset printing is its quick production of high and consistent image quality. Offset pieces go through at least three stages; pre-press, press, and finishing (or bindery). As part of our pre-press production, we utilize the latest in computer to plate (CTP) technology. CTP is when a digital image of your document is transmitted directly from a computer to a plate used on a press. It eliminates the need for producing film (or negatives), stripping and shooting plates. We will discuss the pre-press process in another post. Depending on the specifications of each job, Art Advertising can select which of our four presses is best suited to your particular project. Once printed, the project goes into the bindery department for any range of finishing services from simple trimming or folding to complicated die-cuts or booklet making. "In everything we do, quality is key," Mark says. He adds, “I’m more particular than the client most of the time.” Advancement in color printing technology is also important to Mark and Art Advertising. Mark notes that , “since I have been on board, we've added the CTP equipment, a new densitometer (electronic eye that measures the density of the inks), and improved our process inks for better color output”. As we like to say, “If it has ink, we print it”. With our digital and traditional printing technology the possibilities are endless. Give us a call to discuss your next color printing project and you’ll see why we are adding new color printing clients every day! |
